From: Rebecca Williams
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:
I am looking for documentation related to the Sounds of New York City (SONYC) noise sensors and their management. Specifically, I am interested in any technology documentation (including but not limited to manuals, tutorials, or presentations) on how the sensors detect noises. As well as any enforcement documentation (including but not limited to policies, plans, or memorandums) on how noise data is stored and shared with the Department of Environmental Protection (and any other NY agencies including NYPD) for noise violation enforcement.
I am a researcher looking to better understand how data informs strategic noise enforcement in NYC. I would appreciate these results as soon as possible and am happy to receive records on a rolling basis as they are made available. I am happy to discuss in more detail what I am looking for if helpful at rebecca@rebeccawilliams.us
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Williams

Hello,
I am revisiting this request and would like any more documentation that describes how the SONYC TTP Sensor collects and shares data.
There is public documentation online that this tool was designed by the design firm Loft LLC (now Nova and Loft Designs) and paid for with a $5 mil NSF grant. See the documentation below.

If you are not the correct agency to request this information from, I would appreciate guidance on who the appropriate agency would be.
