To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the New York State Freedom of Information Law (1977 N.Y. Laws ch. 933), I hereby request the following records:

It is my understanding that the NYPD maintains detailed records regarding its Paid Detail Unit. I am therefore requesting records for each instance of an institution contracting with the Paid Detail Unit, containing the information below:

-The name of the institution hiring NYPD officers through the Paid Detail Unit
-The address of the institution
-The date(s) and times for which officers were hired (e.g. 12/20/2002 18:00-23:45)
-The name(s) of the officer(s) hired
-The rate at which officers were paid for that shift

If possible, please provide the information electronically in the form of a spreadsheet where each row represents one instance of an institution contracting with the Paid Detail Unit, where the columns correspond to the information requested above.

The date range for this request is for records starting from the inception of the Paid Detail Unit in 1998 to present.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Jay Cassano
