Pursuant to the New York State Freedom of Information Law (1977 N.Y. Laws ch. 933), I hereby request the following records:

Incident level data on major crimes for the years 2011 through 2014. Currently this data is listed online by your agency for 2015:

http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/crime_prevention/crime_statistics.shtml

under the file "(Seven Major Index Crime Categories - CSV Format) First, Second and Third Quarter 2015".

I am seeking the same data from prior years.

In the event that the data exists for some years and not others, please supply me with the data that is available rather than deny my request in full.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is being made for academic (research) purposes, not commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
