Pursuant to the New York State Freedom of Information Law (1977 N.Y. Laws ch. 933), I hereby request the following records:
Each report submitted by the NYPD to the City Council pursuant to NYC Local Law 2009/001, "Requiring the police department to submit reports concerning the discharge of firearms to the council" (see http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/nycode/ADC/14/1/14-150), section (b): "The New York city police department shall submit to the city council on an annual basis a firearms discharge report, which shall include substantially the same information and data categories, disaggregated in substantially the same manner, as the department's 2007 Annual Firearms Discharge Report. [....] These reports shall be provided to the council within 30 days of the end of the reporting period to which the reports correspond or for which the relevant data may be collected, whichever is later."
Please include all reports for 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
