Pursuant to the New York State Freedom of Information Law (1977 N.Y. Laws ch. 933), I hereby request the following records:
A copy of FOIL request F2013-62 and all responsive records. The FOIL request was received by the City Council on 05/16/2013 and fulfilled on 07/03/2013, and concerned correspondence regarding a hate crime and/or fire at the requester’s residence, according to a log of FOIL requests received by the City Council in fiscal year 2013.
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Dear Mr. Trotter:
This letter serves as a response to your Freedom of Information Law Request received in this office on that above date. You have requested a copy of a FOIL request that was received by the City Council on 05/16/2013 and fulfilled on 07/03/2013, and concerned correspondence regarding a hate crime and/or fire at the requester's residence.
After a review of all responsive documents to your request, please be advised that these documents are being withheld pursuant §87 (2)(f) of the Freedom of Information Law, which permits agencies to withhold records or portions thereof that may endanger the life or safety of any person. Additionally, documents are being withheld pursuant to §87 (2)(e) (iii), which permits agencies to withhold records which were compiled for law enforcement purposes and which, if disclosed would disclose a confidential source or disclose confidential information relating to a criminal investigation.
