Pursuant to the New York State Freedom of Information Law (1977 N.Y. Laws ch. 933), I hereby request the following records:
Records pertaining to Lonnie L. Hamilton, an inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility, who was found dead in his cell on March 18, 2016.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

The law firm representing the Hamilton family, Giampa Law, has sent a FOIL letter to your agency granting permission for the responsive records to be released. The letter was put in the mail today.
Once the New York State Police department is in receipt of this letter, will the agency be able to release the records to me?
