Pursuant to the New York State Freedom of Information Law (1977 N.Y. Laws ch. 933), I hereby request the following records:
A list of all individuals who are currently licensed to work as barbers by New York State in the following counties:
New York County
Kings County
Queens County
Bronx County
Richmond County
For each entry on the list, please identify:
The name of the individual
The city or town and county the individual is located in
The license type
The date the license expires
The license number
Note: Please include all individuals possessing any kind of license that would enable them to cut hair in some capacity (e.g., barber, barber’s apprentice, cosmetology, etc).
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Re: FOIL for Barbers.
This is in regard to your June 8, 2016 Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) inquiry concerning a complete list of individuals that currently hold licenses in New York for Barbers.
Pursuant to FOIL, an agency may require a person requesting lists of names and addresses to provide a written certification that such person will not use such lists of names and addresses for solicitation or fund-raising purposes and will not sell, give or otherwise make available such lists of names and addresses to any other person for the purpose of allowing that person to use such lists of names and addresses for solicitation or fund-raising purposes. Since you are requesting a list of names and addresses, we must have your signed certification before processing your FOIL request. If we do not receive your certification within thirty (30) days of the date of this letter, the Department will deem your request withdrawn and take no further action.
