From: Carly Sitrin

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

— Responses to any and all surveys sent by the Department of Education to school districts between March 2020 and June 2020 asking about student access to the internet, computers, laptops or other technological devices for online learning. If possible I request the data in csv or excel spreadsheets collating school districts responses.

The state Department of Education has reported publicly that they have conducted such "digital divide" surveys in March, April and June.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 7 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Carly Sitrin

Ms. Sitrin,

Attached please find records responsive to your request for survey results. Additional survey results can be located on our website at https://www.nj.gov/education/covid19/studentsfamilies/parentsurvey.shtml.

Counts of fewer than 10 students have been suppressed to protect reasonable expectations of privacy relative to student identification/confidentiality rights under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ("FERPA"), 20 U.S.C. Sect 1232g, NJAC 6A:32-7.1 et seq., and NJSA 47:1A-1 et seq.

Additional time is needed to review and process additional survey results that may be responsive to your request. Accordingly, the due date is extended to September 4, 2020. A receipt indicating same is attached.

Please note, these surveys were voluntary for districts and the data is self-reported by districts.
