Pursuant to Open Public Records Act ("OPRA"), I hereby request the following records:

An electronic copy of the most recent employee directory for the New Jersey Department of Labor, including direct phone and email addresses, and in its native format

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 7 business days, as the statute requires.

Mr. Nash:

This is in response to your recent government records request, which was forwarded to me by the Department's Constituent Relations Office. In the request, you seek "an electronic copy of the most recent employee directory for the New Jersey Department of Labor (and Workforce Development), including direct phone and email addresses."

The Department does not maintain an agency-wide directory of the sort you are seeking. However, the State's Office of Information Technology maintains a State-wide telephone directory, which is available and searchable on the State's website. Following is a link to the website containing the State phone directory, with the search for DLWD employees already initiated: http://www.state.nj.us/cgi-bin/phoneform3.pl?firstname=&lastname=&string=labor&from_record=1&rtype=text.

As to email addresses, the general protocol would be that each employee's email address is his/her first name, followed by a dot, then followed by his/her last name, then @dol.state.nj.us. So, my email address, for example, is david.fish@dol.state.nj.us<mailto:david.fish@dol.state.nj.us>.
