From: Brooke Keast

Attached are our policies and procedures in response to your records request. Also, we are held accountable by the Nevada Revised statute 209 which dictates how prisons are to be run in the state.

When it comes to the "reports, databases, spreadsheets or equivalent materials regarding current debts/restitution paid to or owed to this department or any facility/agency under it's jurisdiction." There are three different entities, the courts, NDOC and the state parole and probation division, that each play a piece in that equation. We have no blended database that can give you the information you are requesting. No such report exists. After discussion with inmate services and the chief of purchasing, I've been informed we do not have the capability to run the debt information solely, so if we ran a list of debts, you would have some personal information regarding the inmates included. I was also informed that any indigent inmates don't incur debt, we provide hygiene and necessities for them. Please let me know if I can assist in any further research for this request.

Hi Brooke,

Thanks so much for your help. I'm wondering: would it be possible to run the report and provide me only with the summation lines? I understand if it's not, but I'm hoping there's a way to get to some of the data without putting you through unnecessary redaction efforts.

Best,
Beryl

Thank you for the reminder -

I got the following numbers for you from Inmate services. For FY16 year-to-date $107,543.12 has been automatically collected from inmate payrolls to pay inmates' court-ordered obligations including, but not limited to, administrative assessments, victim-specific restitution, public defender fees, and psych evaluation fees.

This figure does not include initial payments for court-ordered obligations manually collected by the NDOC, payments initiated by inmates, or payments collected by courts from other entities such as Parole and Probation which we have no access to.

Hi Muckrock,
Here is a list of all the current inmates in our custody that have restitution owed or paid according to our records. This is in no way a complete list since the courts and other organizations may collect payments we don't know about. This list should complete this request.
