Dear Needles Unified School District:
On September 30, 2013 I submitted a request for public records pursuant to the California's Sunshine Amendment (Cal. Const. Art. I, § 3(b)).
I have requested a copy of "All homework assignments for seventh grade history class assigned in September of 2013 where the assignment discusses religion, islam, or the arabic language."
To aid in locating these records, they were distributed at Katie Hohstadt Elementary.
Please provide me with an estimated date in which you will have these records released to me. Thank you!

Hello,
I received your email in an indirect way since you had
sent it to the former superintendent.
I do not understand the information about Katie Hohstadt
school since it is a pre-school run under the Headstart
program and not directing related to the district.
Are you looking for information from my other 3 schools
which are K-12 or only from the pre-school?
I will comply by the end of this upcoming week or sooner
once I fully understand your request.

I am sorry if I had the school wrong, the records I am seeking were distributed in Needles, CA to a 7th grade class. Are you able to identify the school from that? Thank you!

I would like to check the status of this request and be sure that my clarifications last week made it possible for you to locate the requested records.
Thank you very much.

Dr. Mary McNeil,
I did receive your email today, but didn't receive the first attempt for some reason. Thank you very much for getting this to me. I was however expecting to see more records than this. I wanted to see the actual assignments sent home with the children on this subject mater.
I was expecting to see one assignment in specific which was four pages in length (two pages front and back). The middle two pages showed two columns where there was Arabic language on one side and English on the other side. The English side had the English translation missing some words. For example "The Holy ____" would be on the English side, expecting "Quran" to be entered in the blank. I have seen this assignment already, but would like a copy of it. Further, since this was one day's homework, I was expecting to see many others.
Please let me know if you can provide the actual assignments the children were required to complete.
Thank you.
Regards,
Jason Smathers
