Pursuant to Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
All VFOIA requests (and status) submitted for records about untested rape kits in Virginia submitted between February 1, 2015 and March 2, 2015.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is not being made for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

On March 3, 2015, the Virginia Department of Forensic Science (DFS or the Department) received your request pursuant to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act for “all VFOIA requests (and status) submitted for records about untested rape kits in Virginia submitted between February 1, 2015 and March 2, 2015.” While the provisions of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act apply only to “citizens of the Commonwealth, representatives of newspapers or magazines with circulation in the Commonwealth, and representatives of radio and television stations broadcasting in or into the Commonwealth” (see Virginia Code § 2.2-3704(A)), the Department is exercising its discretion to respond to your request for records in this instance. The Department received one FOIA request concerning records about untested rape kits between February 1, 2015 and March 2, 2015, a copy of which is attached. The Department has fulfilled that request.
