Pursuant to the Iowa Open Records Law, I hereby request the following records:
Copies of all complaints filed against Iowa Dept. of Public Safety personnel for as many years as are preserved on record.
We request that these data be supplied without redactions, and include all data fields solicited on the department's online complaint form (http://www.dps.state.ia.us/commis/psb/complaint.shtml). This includes, but is not limited to, the date, time, and location of the incident, the names of DPS personnel involved in the incident, and the incident summary.
If this request is unclear, we ask that you contact us for clarification rather than denying our request outright. We further ask that if certain information cannot be shared that you fulfill our request in part rather than denying it in full, and explain the reason (relevant statute and code section) for withholding any information.
If records are digitized (i.e. they exist in database or spreadsheet form) we ask that data be supplied in digital form rather than via hard copies.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.
