Greetings FBI FOIA staff,
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request any FBI file or any other records related to the physicist Dr. Freeman Dyson, who I believe was born on December 15th, 1923, and who died today.
I have attached a published obituary, which can be accessed at https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/28/science/freeman-dyson-dead.html
Among many other areas, Dr. Dyson conducted work related to atomic energy, including the proposed Project ORION system of space propulsion using nuclear explosives. For these reasons I believe the FBI may hold records regarding Dr. Dyson.
Please conduct cross-reference searches. Please conduct manual and electronic index searches as appropriate. In addition to any searches you would typically perform, please conduct full-text ECF and Sentinel type searches. As appropriate, please search ELSUR, ARC (or any successor facility/system of old or archived records) and appropriate field offices.
This request is not being made for commercial purposes. The requested documents will be immediately and freely available to the general public on muckrock.com.
I would prefer the request be filled electronically, by portal upload or e-mail attachment if available, or CD-ROM if not.
Thanks for your help!
Cheers,
Joseph Durso
