Dear Mr. Schiano:

Thank you for contacting the USDA-Forest Service, Freedom of Information Service Center with two Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests which were dated May 1, 2018. Your request was received in this office (Southern Region) on May 3, 2018. Since the subject of both requests are asking for the same type of records with two search range dates, your requests have been aggregated into one and assigned tracking #2018-FS-R8-03900-F.

You are requesting the following:

· Any documents prepared by Gaileo Project, LLC, bearing the title(s) "Mountain Valley Pipeline" and/or "Internal FS Law Enforcement (LE) Call" created between the dates of March 1, 2017 and May 3, 2018.

Your request is currently on hold. Please verify that we have the correct information above regarding the records you seek.

EXTENSION
Consistent with 7 C.F.R. § 1.8(d) of the USDA FOIA regulations, the Forest Service processes FOIA requests according to their order of receipt. Due to an increasing number of FOIA requests received by this office, we may encounter some delay in processing your request. Although the Forest Service's goal is to respond within 20 business days of receipt of your request, the FOIA does permit a 10-day extension of this time period in certain circumstances. As your request will require a thorough and wide-ranging search for records involving separate offices, the Forest Service will invoke a 10-day extension for your request pursuant to 5 U.S.C. § 552(a)(6)(B). We will make every effort to comply with your request in a timely manner.

As mentioned previously, before we can continue to process your request, please help us verify we understand the specific records you are seeking. If we do not hear from you by May 21, 2018, we will consider your request withdrawn and administratively close the file. You would then have to submit a new FOIA request if you choose to pursue this at a later date.

If you have any questions about your request, feel free to contact me anytime at the number and email listed below.

Sincerely,
Douglas Meloche

Hello,

Thanks for continuing to follow up on these FOIA requests. I am willing to have these two requests combined into #2018-FS-R8-03900-F as you have proposed. If it would help reduce the scope, I would also be willing to narrow this request to include documents that meet the described parameters that were created, sent, or received between March 1-31 of 2017, and/or between April 1-May 1 of 2018.

sincerely,
