To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

I am seeking Source Code, documentation, and training manuals for the legacy Federal Bureau of Investigation Automated Case Support system which was replaced by the "Sentinel" system in 2012. The program was created at least partially in the "Natural" programming language and first deployed in 1995.

I believe the documents I seek for the system would be held by the Information and Technology branch in order to support the aging system.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. I believe the release of this information is in the public interest as the system was used to store and access the FBI's information digitally from 1995-2012. In addition, the system was developed in-house, making the Source Code of the system public domain. As the system was developed using taxpayer money, the American people deserve to be able to view and modify the system's code.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Patrick Marshall
