From: Valentine, Patricia Egly

This email is in response to your North Carolina Public Records Act request of October 27, 2016, for records relating to the acquisition and use of computer software designed to access social media services.

Please find attached the responsive records to your public records. The records have been redacted of confidential information protected by attorney-client privilege and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The basis for the redactions are noted in yellow.

In response to request 6, the ECU Police Department does not have a protocol, pattern or practice of sharing information received from Social Sentinel with outside entities. However, investigating ECU Police Officers may have provided local law enforcement information received from Social Sentinel. However, without reviewing all the police case files from May 2015 forward, we are unable to confirm the fact that any information received from Social Sentinel was provided to outside entities including Greenville Police Department.

Should you have any questions or comments concerning this matter, please contact me.
