From:

Dear Ms. Duvall,

This is in response to the below Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request you submitted to U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). The request was assigned USSOCOM FOIA 2018-259.

Attached is the final response letter and a copy of the original FOIA request.

We are closing your request with no further action required by this office.
Best Regards,
USSOCOM FOIA Team

I appeal this response based upon transparent, clear, and public evidence. Under the umbrella agency name and objectives USSOCOM does test and use Directed Energy Weapons (DEW), based upon their own acknowledgement. The Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOCAF), under the umbrella agency USSOCOM, heavily engages in the testing and usage of such weapons. A simple Google search of "USSOCOM Directed Energy Weapons", "USSOCOM DEW", "Air Force Special Operations Command Directed Energy Weapons", and/or "AFSOCAF Directed Energy Weapons" provides ample evidence directly from USSOCOM and AFSOCAF articles and webpages. The FOIA Request that was filed would definitively be under the mission/objectives of USSOCOM and AFSOCAF, and therefore would be "under the purview" of USSOCOM. An example is attached of a public PDF document from USSOCOM, which discusses the use of Directed Energy Weapons and their potential applications.
