Pursuant to the state open records law, Ariz. Rev. Stat. Ann. Secs. 39-121 to 39-122 and 39-128, I hereby request the following records:
- All communications between members of this office and employees or representatives of the American Legislative Exchange Council.
- All communications containing the keywords "ALEC" or "American Legislative Exchange Council".
- Any files or documents attached to the above communications.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I would request your response within ten (10) business days.

Your request is still being processed, however, I do have one clarifying question for you.
In your request, you originally state that you would like ‘All communications containing the keywords "ALEC" or "American Legislative Exchange Council"’.
Does that aspect of your request include third-party emails sent as a newsletter and received by staff?
For example, Company XX sends out a monthly newsletter via email to their subscriber list discussing various items/updates and discusses ALEC/American Legislative Exchange Council for whatever reason. An employee receives that newsletter by email and no further action occurs other than an employee receiving and reading the newsletter. Are you seeking these emails as well?
Please let me know if you need me to clarify my question at all.

Hi Ms. Diaz,
Thanks for reaching out! We can definitely discount newsletters. I've been running into that problem with other AG offices - if there's an easy way to cut them out, let's do it.
By the way, just to make things fair, I've clarified with most of the offices I made this request to that everything can be limited to 2010 and after. If you need more clarification to narrow things down, please let me know.

Please find attached a letter of response from our office in addition to a portion of responsive records. You should receive 6 total attachments in this email (one letter and five attachments of responsive records.)
Please note that the “Filed FOIA..” attachment is the attachment from an email sent 9/24/13 (located in this “ALEC 4” attachment). This is the only attachment that does not directly follow the email itself.
In addition to what is attached here, there will likely be additional records forthcoming.

Hi Alex,
I apologize for the delay in getting the remainder of the records to you that are responsive to your request, originally dated May 13, 2015. We released a portion to you in August, and my release of records today will fulfill the request. This is email one of two. The additional attachments will be in a separate email due to size constraints.
Please find attached a response letter from our office in addition to several attachments. Please note that the "R. Delander" emails (6 of them) are being sent as one attachment per email, which is different from the other PDF's- which each contain several emails for efficiency. This was the only way you'd be able to enlarge those particular emails to be able to read them. For some reason, the text comes through very tiny. You should be able to zoom in and clearly read them but please let me know if you have issues with those particular emails.
