From: Records, Public (DOC)

You must follow the Department's procedure to request public records by completing the Public Records Request Form, which I have attached for your convenience, (the request form can be found on our website under request public records for future reference) and submit it along with a $25.00 processing fee. The processing fee payment must be submitted in the form of a cashier's check or money order made payable to the Alabama Department of Corrections.

Once we receive your completed form and processing fee, we will review our records for documents responsive to your request. If we determine there are records responsive to your request, we will notify you of the final costs to produce the records. Once final payment is received, we will mail the records to you. The procedure to request public records, including our fee schedule, is further explained in the public records request form.

Please note that we do not produce documents electronically in connection with public records requests.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

From: Beryl Lipton

Hello Ms. Hughes,

Could you please direct me to the appropriate mediation or appeal body? Additionally, would you be able to give me a sense of whether the initial $25 submission will result in any responsive materials?

Thanks so much for your help,
Beryl

From: Records, Public (DOC)

Beryl,

Our policy for requesting public records requires that you submit a completed request form and a $25.00 processing fee. Once we receive the completed form and processing fee, we will then analyze our records for documents responsive to your request, as mentioned in my previous response, and respond to you accordingly.

Please note that I responded to another request from you earlier today directing you to our website to view our policies and procedures for requesting pubic records.
We do not have a mediation or appeal process in connection with requests for public records, however, you can contact our Public Information Officer to discuss the matter. The contact information can we found on our website.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
Thank you,
Janice Hughes
