From: Department of Energy

Good morning, Ms. Crose.

I asked LANL for an estimated date of completion. The lab responded that some potentially responsive material is on microcassette media (unlabeled and contents unknown) which requires special duplicating equipment. The lab estimates that the review of the recordings will take another 5 to 6 months to process (December/January timeframe). If you are willing to forgo the microcassette media, they estimate that they could provide documents by November 15, 2019.

Please note that the Department of Energy transferred this request in its entirety to NNSA to process (see email to you on May 10, 2019). NNSA assigned the control number FOIA 19-00201-K to your request. Please reference this number in your communications.

Karen,

I'm willing to wait a little longer in order to make sure nothing is overlooked. I'd be greatly appreciative if the unlabeled media could also be reviewed as a part of this request. Thank you so much.

From: Department of Energy

Good afternoon, Ms. Crose.

I queried the Los Alamos Field Office about your request. They replied that the laboratory is still reviewing records.

I will contact you as soon as I know more.

Thank you so much for your continued help with this, Karen. I deeply appreciate your work.

From: Department of Energy

Good morning, Ms. Crose.

I asked our Los Alamos Field Office (NA-LA) POC about your request on Friday, January 24, 2020. He said that the documents were still under review with the LANL classification folks, but could not give me a new estimated date of completion. I know that the classification office is a little backed up because of the holidays (many people have "use or lose" leave at the end of the calendar year). I do ask for weekly updates from NA-LA-I will let you know as soon as I have more information.
