Good Afternoon Mr. Isaac,
Here is the information you requested on your Public Information Request to the Department of Livestock on 4/25/23. In your request, the following dates were identified, Jan. 1, 1967- Dec. 31, 2022. The State of Montana currently has a records retention policy of six years for daily/monthly reports by our District Investigators. The Department did have one case, that was undetermined, that was included for the request. Also, for clarification, Department staff in most cases would only write a report, if it was determined the dead livestock were killed by a firearm. Dead livestock, without those types of wounds, would be classified as undetermined and no report would be recorded.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please feel free to contact our office.

Thank You
Jay Bodner
