Prior to submitting a request form, please verify that the information you are requesting is not already available through the following Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) online link: https://www.pca.state.mn.us/environmental-data. Please click on this link https://www.pca.state.mn.us/sites/default/files/e-admin11-36.pdf. to use the updated information request form. The updated form includes acknowledgement that you may be charged for time spent gathering the information. When using the online form, all fields marked with an asterisk must be checked for the form to prompt the email to be sent to the Intake/Triage email. Once it's received by the Triage unit, your request will be processed and assigned to a file manager for completion. REMEMBER: Only one preferred ID number or exact address per form. Each preferred ID number or exact address is assigned a Request number in our system for billing and tracking purposes. Thank you for submitting your request for information from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. We have assigned a file manager to start gathering your information and work on your request.

Please note that the MPCA has revised its fee structure effective March 23, 2021. Staff time spent to fulfill requests will be billed at a flat rate of $25.70 per hour for requests that require more than three hours to complete. The remainder of searches will be conducted free of charge.

We expect this to effect a small percentage of requests. A file manager will notify you if your request is expected to accrue fees and provide an opportunity to narrow the scope of your request. Regardless of time required to process requests, fees are charged for any supplies used such as paper, CDs, or flash drives. Thank you for your understanding. Please contact us with any questions.

COVID-19 update:

To protect our staff and the community during the COVID-19 pandemic the MPCA migrated all staff to telework. Thus, our ability to provide responses to data requests will be affected until more staff return to the office this summer. There will be delays in data collection and our ability may be limited if onsite, in person file reviews are requested or if a request requires scanning or copying of documents or retrieval of documents from archives. We will continue to process your requests and we will communicate with you about anticipated delays. If hardcopies are needed to respond to your requests, we will keep your request open until we can provide paper copies or access to paper copies. Please be aware that we can more readily access and provide data that is already in electronic form.
