Data Request: MuckRock News, 10/26/2018

Prepared by: Kelley Heifort, Community Reentry Director

I have numbered the data questions on a copy of the letter you sent to MN DOC dated 10/26/2018 (attached for reference). Below are the responses to those corresponding questions.

Question 1:
I have provided a link to the Adult Pre-Release Handbook<https://mn.gov/doc/community-supervision/reentry-resources/prerelease-handbook/> which is available on the MN DOC Public Website. Additionally, MN DOC’s policies<https://mn.gov/doc/data-publications/policies/> are accessible online, as well.

Question 2 and 3:
Information on historical admissions and releases is available from 1998 onward on the public DOC website – fiscal year and calendar year data are posted in our Offender Summary Reports located here:
https://mn.gov/doc/data-publications/offender-statistics/historical-population-summary-reports/

Question 4:
We have no current reports or information on housing status of offenders prior to and following commitment.

As to the request to do a “rolling” update of data as it becomes available, MNDOC has no ability to provide data on any sort of a subscription basis. Any requests for new data must be submitted in writing by email or mail.
