To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

This is a public records survey of law enforcement agencies throughout Connecticut. You may have received an earlier version of this survey. If so, this request seeks records over a longer period of time.

Please provide a copy of any crime/incident report (or similar police reports) in which a person was investigated, stopped, cited, arrested, or charged with violating Connecticut General Statutes § 53-37 (or "ridicule"). This request is limited to reports generated on or after October 1, 2000, through the present date. If your database does not allow searches that far back, please let me know how far back you can search.

If I can be of any assistance in interpreting or narrowing this request, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I also request that, if possible and pursuant to Conn. Gen. Stat. § 1-212(d), fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest and not made for commercial gain. The requested documents will be processed by a representative of the news media/press and made available to the public at MuckRock.com.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 4 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Adam Steinbaugh

From:

Mr. Steinbaugh,

Please note that the below request, dating back to the year 2000, is a large request. At this time I have not been able to assess how many of these type of cases may have occurred, and therefore I do not have an estimate of how long this request may take to process. I was not previously aware of this request, as I was not working in this office in August, 2022. I would be happy to discuss the request with you, if you would like to call, or provide a contact phone number.

Based on the format of your request, including a link, I will not be able to utilize that format, as it has the potential for computing malware.

Lastly, when requesting a large search of records, it is not routine for us to waive the fees incurred. Therefore as this time, I will not be waiving the fee, however we would definitely inform you of the fee, prior to completing the request.

To persons requesting records pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act:

Mr. Steinbaugh,

Your most recent email indicated that you were looking for records from 2020 - present:

*Please provide a copy of any crime/incident report (or similar police reports) in which a person was investigated, stopped, cited, arrested, or charged with violating Connecticut General Statutes § 53-37 (or "ridicule"). This request is limited to reports generated on or after October 1, 2020, through the present date.*

While the below email shows that you requested records from 2000 - present.

I was able to conduct a check from 2020 - present which revealed that we made no arrests from 01/01/2020 through 12/19/2022 for violation of CGS 53-37.

As there were no records found, there is no charge for this response.

I hope this satisfies your request, and provides the information you needed for your purposes.
