From: Nick Ingalls

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to Michigan's Freedom of Information Act ("FOIA"), I hereby request the following records:

A Shapefile or CSV containing at minimum the Address Points (house # and street name) and their corresponding Latitude/Longitude. If additional data such as the Unit Number, City, Zipcode, Parcel Id exists they should be included as well.

If this cannot be accessed, the parcel file including situs address would suffice.

Other names for this include: E911 Address Database, Civic Address File, Parcel Dataset, Land Ownership Dataset, Tax Parcels, Address Points.

I also intent to publish the data via the OpenAddresses Publication platform and would request a waiver of fees for the request.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Nick Ingalls

An acknowledgement letter, stating the request is being processed.

Mr. Ingalls:

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for a Shapefile or CSV containing address points. The department is processing your request; however, we would like to contact you and discuss the scope of the request. The department does not possess the records you are seeking for the entire state. The department does possess some records for a very limited number of communities across the state. These limited records were gathered in response to a disaster and the records may be out of date and or incomplete. The Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB) Center for Shared Solutions (CSS) is currently assembling this data for the entire state. The department is happy to fulfill your request as written, but there are costs associated with the requests, and as stated above, you will receive very limited and out of date information. If you would like to amend your request or withdraw your request and submit a new request to the DTMB Center for Shared Solutions, please respond in writing. If I don't hear back from you by close of business on Monday, January 8, 2018, the department will send the invoice to you for the costs associated with processing the request as written.

Thank you,

Lance Gackstetter
