To Dekalb County's Custodian of Records:
This is a request for records under the Missouri Sunshine Law, Chapter 610, Revised Statutes of Missouri.
Copies of all electronic or paper reports in the course of the investigation into the fight between Crossroads Correctional Center inmate Paul Ferguson (MoDOC number: 18782) and his cellmate on August 17, 2018. The fight resulted in Ferguson's death.
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as provided under Missouri Law. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
I expect the request to be filled in an electronic format preferrably a .pdf file attached to a responsive email. In the alternative physical documents would also be acceptable. In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.
To Whom It May Concern:
I wanted to follow up on the following The Missouri Sunshine Law request, copied below, and originally submitted on Sept. 17, 2018. Please let me know when I can expect to receive a response.
Thanks for your help, and let me know if further clarification is needed.
As I responded to this before, I am unable to give you any of that information due to the fact that we were not the investigating agency. I have NO reports from my office about any of this. Just like last time I responded to this, both prisons reside within the City of Cameron Jurisdiction. Please forward any request to them.
