Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:

I am seeking any information in regards to departmental policy in regards to officer identification in regards to interactions with the public furthermore, any policy in which the officer must state their name and badge identification number by the general public. In Addition, we are seeking any department policy in regards to the body-worn camera, Bodycam (BWC) or any recording device which may record audio or video when interacting with the public.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

According to New York State Law the Town of Mamaroneck has five days to receipt your request, and inform you of whether your request will be denied or approved and or a completion date for the information requested. We responded to this FOIL on 3/16/2022. This is our second response to this FOIL. We have no record of receiving a foil on or around 02/18/2022.

For Question #1

From Policy 1995.18

23. Identification

Officers shall carry their shields and identification cards at all times, on or off duty, except when engaged in department authorized covert operations.

For Question #2
We do not have Body Worn Cameras nor a policy for same at this time. As for recording audio and video, we have security cameras in the facility and we record telephone lines and the police radio. We retain those recordings for 120 days. They are purged thereafter.
