To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
1) The total number of firearms reported stolen to your department in 2015.
2) The total number of firearms reported stolen from motor vehicles to your department in 2015.
I submitted on July 21 and 22 requests for police reports related to the theft of firearms from motor vehicles and asking for the total number of automobile burglaries in 2015. If you have not already completed that request, please complete this one first if possible.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.
See attached emails from previous request, please advise if you would like for us to proceed with this request.
Yes, I should have messaged you directly. This was a mass request that went to several departments, as we're trying to compile data. Sorry if I caused any confusion. One thing: with this request, we're only looking for two figures: 1) number of firearms stolen in 2015, and 2) number of firearms stolen from automobiles in 2015. But as I understand it, you're department cannot pull these numbers quickly? Some departments have been able to run a search that just takes a few minutes or already track this information.
If I understand you correctly, you only need numbers and not the actual reports.
1) number of firearms stolen in 2015 (137 reports)
2) number of firearms stolen from automobiles in 2015. (349 reports)
Sorry, I'm confused, why is the number of firearms stolen number higher than the number of firearms stolen from automobiles number? For the first bullet, we were looking for a total. If I add the 349 and 137 together, will that give us the total for the year?
Yes, that is correct. Those are two different types of reports: Theft (137) and Vehicle Burglaries (349) to equal a total of 486.
Please advised if this response has satisfied / answered your request and if we can submit as completed.
Thank you, E. Sanchez
Yes thank you! I've marked it complete on my end.
