Miss Lipton,

I am in receipt of the attached request--see page 2 of the pdf
file--generally seeking all documents relative to air conditioning and
cooling measures at all Louisiana state prisons. Please be advised that
this is a substantial request, and fees cannot be waived. A significant
amount of the material sought is maintained only via hard copy. The
Department would require an initial deposit of $1,000 to begin processing
this request. Thank you.

Jonathan Vining
Attorney for the Secretary

From: Beryl Lipton

Hello Mr. Vining,

Thank you so much for your message. I would like to limit this request, as the requested deposit would be an irresponsible use of time and resources for both of us. Perhaps you can help me do so in the most efficient way. I would be happy to receive, for each of the facilities within your jurisdiction, simply the invoice for the most recent installation, upgrade, or maintenance check. Please let me know if this seems like a reasonable constraint.

Thanks again,
Beryl

From: Jonathan Vining

I will check with facility services, but you must understand that these
items--if available--will be kept on hard copy only, and we must charge
copy costs of $0.50 per page.
