To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the California's Sunshine Amendment (Cal. Const. Art. I, ยง 3(b)), I hereby request the following records:
Any and all reports compiled by the Sheriff's Office on asset forfeiture since 2010. This should include regularly administered (monthly or annually) reports on asset forfeitures over a given span of time, as well as any reports regarding specific cases of asset forfeiture.
I also request that all fees be waived as I am a journalist -- employed by MuckRock and the Boston Globe -- and intend to use any pertinent information I receive as a result of this request to educate the public.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Todd Feathers

Ms. Vannover,
I wanted to thank you for your amazingly prompt reply, and also say that I've filed a lot of public records requests but never had someone who was as helpful or worked as quickly as you. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it.
Best regards,
Todd

And I should probably also apologize for spelling your name wrong. I can't get anything right today!
