Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
All materials related to the partnership between the Los Angeles Police Department and Axon (or its AI Research Team).
Please provide copies of all related contracts (or similar agreements), amendments, exhibits, communications, reports, or other deliverables.
Please also provide copies of the original Request for Proposal (or equivalent) and all materials provided in response, including (but not limited to) those provided by Axon and other competing organizations.
According to a press release (https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/lapd-selects-axon-ai-research-team-as-official-artificial-intelligence-partner-300538279.html?tc=portal_CAP) on the partnership published in October 2017, LAPD's Sergeant Daniel Gomez said, regarding the agreement, "Reducing the time it takes for our staff to review footage is a priority for us so we can invest more time and energy in the field. Following the competitive trial, we concluded that Axon's AI Research team developed the most accurate machine learning models with the greatest potential to bring operational efficiencies and identify improvements to the department's training program."
