To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act ("APRA"), I hereby request the following records:

A full list of the teachers who have received layoff letters for the 2014-2015 school year, as well as the full list of teachers’ names submitted to the Rhode Island Department of Education for possible layoff for the 2014-2015 school year.

Good morning. Our offices represent a number of school districts, many of whom are receiving your recent requests regarding layoff lists of teachers in Rhode Island. In terms of clarification - are you seeking a list of teachers that were given preliminary notice of layoff - which happens prior to March 1st each year. Or, are you asking for the final list of teachers who actually are laid off from a district?

I would appreciate a quick response to this email so we can expedite the sending of information to you.

Thanks.

Mr. Scungio -

Thank you for your response. Could you clarify which districts you are representing, for our recordkeeping as far as which districts have formally acknowledged receipt of this request?

For clarification, this is a request for the list of teachers who were given preliminary notice of layoff, as well as final determination of layoff if that information is available at present.

I hope this clarifies the request.

Best,
Shawn

Hi Shawn

We represent about 3/4 of all the school committees in the state, but please don't consider these emails as formal acknowledgement of anything. I don't know if some have a prohibition against emailed requests.

In any event, Our clients from Lincoln, Little Compton, North Kingstown and Middletown all contacted us with the same clarification request, so I thought it best to ask on all their behalf.

Also, individual districts will be deciding if they will respond to you directly or through us.

Ben

Received.

In case there is confusion, I submitted a separate request for the superintendent's contract on June 12 that has yet to be fulfilled. Superintendent Crowley indicated that your response to that request was sent on Monday - can you confirm whether it was sent by mail, fax or email?
