Hi,
Under the state public records law, I am a journalist requesting the following data held by your department:

1) Number of guns that were stolen in each 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

2) Number of guns that were stolen from motor vehicles in each 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

For both Nos. 1 and 2, we are only seeking the number of guns stolen for each year, not police reports or any other details.

I am a reporter with The Trace (thetrace.org), a nonprofit news organization, and these figures will be made available to the general public. We are making this request through the MuckRock public records request management system to help streamline and organize our requests. This request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. Please make all invoices out to The Trace.

I would prefer the request be completed electronically and the information sent to me at this email or foia@thetrace.org

If information must be sent by mail, please send to the following address:

Thanks Clair! Just to be sure, what are the three numbers in each row? Is it like, for example, in 2006, there were 167 guns stolen overall, 18 of them from vehicles?

From: Clair Lindquist

Yes, the column with the heading "Year" shows the year, the middle column is
the number stolen that year, and the last one is the number stolen just from
vehicles.
