To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

I would like a copy of the file that matches license plate numbers to the four-digit number found printed on the back of police vehicles and a copy of the file that matches the name of the officers to the vehicles they are assigned to.

Please redact any records on unmarked police vehicles and redact the names, and any other identifying information, of officers considered undercover.

I would also like a record showing the total number of vehicles owned by the Lewisville Police Department.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Thomas D. Collinsworth

From: Lewisville Police Department

List of vehicles is attached.

The following information has been redacted: (1) DL, LP, and/or VIN numbers
[Tx Gov Code §552.130]. This section allows us to withhold this specific
information without requesting a ruling from the attorney general. You have
the right to appeal our decision. Instructions for appeal are attached. If
you do not want to appeal, you do not need to do anything else.

Attached you'll find my written appeal to the Attorney General's Open Records Division concerning Lewisville Police Department's decision on my 07/28/2020 public information request for department vehicle information and license plate numbers.

From: Thomas D. Collinsworth

Hi Amanda,

I filed a request with the Lewisville Police Department for vehicle information on July 28, 2020. The city provided the information but said I would have to appeal to the attorney general for the redacted items. So I filed an appeal back in August. However, I still haven't had any communication from them regarding the matter. Have you guys received anything on it?

Thank you,

Thomas Collinsworth

Hi Kathy,

Have you received anything from them? I mailed a communication to the attorney general in early February about the situation, but I haven't gotten anything back.

Thank you,

Thomas
