Good afternoon,

I have received your request for information and have some questions I need you to answer before I can gather the information you're seeking. My questions are in red.

1. The total number of use of force incidents, broken down by type of force used, from 2013-2018 (separated by year). Patrol deputies? Correctional Deputies in the jail? Both?
2. The total number of use of force complaints reported to the sheriff's department and (separately) the total number of use of force complaints that were sustained from 2013-2018 (separated by year). Patrol deputies? Correctional Deputies in the jail? Both?
3. The current sheriff's deputies union contract
4. The current sheriff's department policy manual Patrol staff or Jail staff?

Once you've answered my questions, it will take me several weeks to gather the information you requested and forward it to you. I should be able to do so via email. I do not anticipate that there will be a charge for providing you with the information you requested.

We’re working on it. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to pull up use of force complaints and incidents in our computer system that far back so we’re having to do a manual search through all our hard files so it’s taking longer than expected.
