To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to Tennessee's Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
1) Number of guns that were stolen in each 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
2) Number of guns that were stolen from motor vehicles in each 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
For both Nos. 1 and 2, we are only seeking the number of guns stolen for each year, not police reports or any other details. If possible, please include only the number of stolen firearms, not lost firearms. If lost firearms must be included, please advise us.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. Please make all invoices out to The Trace.
Please note that I am a citizen of Tennessee, and am using MuckRock's services to help manage and track my request.
Please be advised that, because of questions regarding the validity of requests for information under the Tennessee public records laws from request fulfillment services, particularly those located outside the State of Tennessee, the City of Knoxville will no longer be providing copies of public records through such entities, including muckrock.com. Should you wish to submit a request to inspect or copy public records directly to the City of Knoxville, you may do so through the City department holding the requested records or through the City's Department of Communications, either in person, by phone, by letter or by e-mail, using the form provided at this link<http://www.knoxvilletn.gov/government/city_departments_offices/communications/>. Pursuant to state law, requestors are expected to provide proof of Tennessee citizenship at the time of the request.
