Is this charge a customized service charge as described in RCW 42.56.120(3)(b), or is this a copying fee?
From: King County Sheriff's Office
--- Please respond above this line ---
Hello,
The charges that have been charged up to this point are the copying fee variety. We charge a fee of 5 cents for every 4 uploaded digital files. Each email is considered its own file. A customized service charge would be a a fee if we had to hire an outside agency to perform a specialized task. The service charge would then be charged at whatever that company would charge our agency. I hope this answered your question. Thank you.

Can you provide receipts to show that it actually costs you 5 cents per 4 record? Also, I haven't had any other agency count a single email as a record since email is usually gathered in bulk digitally. SPD has delivered thousands of individual emails for a couple of dollars. What justifies the difference in costing here?

To Whom It May Concern:
I'm following up on the following Washington Public Records Act request, copied below, and originally submitted on Aug. 20, 2020. You had previously indicated that it would be completed on April 18, 2022. I wanted to check on the status of my request, and to see if there was a new estimated completion date. You had assigned it reference number #P052000-082020.
Thanks for your help, and let me know if further clarification is needed.
