Dear Records Officer,

Pursuant to the California Public Records Act (California Government Code §§ 6250), I hereby request the police reports, incident reports, crime reports, arrest reports, or any other material detailing the incident under the following case number:


Please provide records that include at least the serial number, make, and other descriptive information of the firearm stolen or recovered; the date, time and location of the theft, offense, and/or recovery; a narrative description of the theft, offense, investigation and/or recovery of the firearm(s); the name, age, occupation, and other identifying and contact information for the victim(s), reporting person(s), and any defendant(s) charged; and the text of any charges filed.

I am a reporter with The Trace, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit news organization. I am filing this request through MuckRock’s public records request management service, which I use to better track and streamline requests.

As a member of the news media, I will be making information obtained from this request available to the general public; I am not requesting it for commercial purposes.

Dear Mr. Brian Fresko;

On 8/21/2017, I received your emailed California Public Records Act (CPRA) request concerning information from Sheriff's Report SR15-14389.

On 6/05/2015, a burglary occurred sometime between 16:00 and 19:30 hours while the victim was away from his residence in Wofford Heights, CA 93285. The victim reported that a storage unit on his property was burglarized and firearms and ammunition had been stolen.

Further details of the investigation are exempt from disclosure per California Government Code 6254(f).

Thank you Mr. Mahoney. Can you confirm that a .22-caliber Kobra pistol bearing serial number 020488 was stolen during this theft? I have that information from data your office provided in response to a previous request but I wanted to confirm the information in the data.


No I can't. You apparently have confirmation from the item you previously reveived.
