This additional time is necessary due to current staffing levels, current volume of public record requests received; locating and assembling therequested records; if necessary notifying any third parties who may be affectedby the request; and to determine whether any of the information containedwithin the requested records is exempt from disclosure, in whole or in part.

Re: Public Records Request, dated 10/18/2017, File #W013254-101817
Matter – Clarification of Request Needed
Dear Mark Harris:
On 10/18/2017, you submitted to the City of Kent a request for records under the Public Records Act, Ch. 42.56 RCW.  In  your request, you sought the following records: The City is currently gathering records responsive to your request, but requires clarification on what records you are seeking concerning "reports and data supplied by Converus."
The Kent Police Department does utilize Conversus, a website application.   Conversus does not supply data and reports to Kent Police Department.   The Kent Police Department accesses the website to obtain the results for a specific candidate for employment with the City.    The results of candidates are part of the application process, and those records are exempt from disclosure under RCW 42.56.250(2). Are you seeking copies of the results of candidates from January 1, 2016 to October 18, 2017?  If yes, the City will  research for the results (which are exported as a PDF), prepare an exemption log identifying the records, then withhold the records based on the above RCW. Are there other identifiable records for reports and data you are seeking? The City will wait for clarification on this portion of your request before it begins gathering any records that may be responsive for "reports and data supplied by Converus." As stated in my  letter on 10/25/2017, the City anticipates a response to the other portions of your request by 11/27/2017. If you have any questions or wish to discuss this matter further or provide clarification, please contact me at 253-856-5724. Thank you. Hi Kim,

Thanks for your thoughtful and prompt reply. I apologize for my poorly worded request.

No, I am not seeking the results of individual tests. However, I would like to see any summary reports regarding passes and failures of the tests, if they exist, especially if they include demographic data (ie age, gender, race etc) of applicants.

I was also interested in any reports or documents that Converus supplied the department regarding the accuracy and validity of its technology, prior to purchase.

regards

Mark
