Pursuant to the Kansas Open Records Act (K.S.A. 45-215), I hereby request the following records:
All Stand Your Ground motions that have been filed by defendants in judicial district 27 since January 1, 2006.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Mr. Spies: The records of the District Attorney's Office are not subject to the open records act. The motions you have requested would have been filed in the District Court. The District Court records are open to the public, and the District Court clerk would be the custodian of those records. Your request should be filed with the District Court. The Reno County District Attorney's Office is not the appropriate agency from which to obtain the records, and we respectfully decline your request.
