Pursuant to the Kansas Open Records Act (K.S.A. 45-215), I hereby request the following records:

All Stand Your Ground motions that have been filed by defendants in judicial district 13 since January 1, 2006.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Mr. Spies,

Your Kansas Open Records Act request is denied. There is not a "Kansas
District Attorney" for the Thirteenth Judicial District. The Thirteenth
Judicial District is comprised of Butler, Elk and Greenwood counties. Your
request should be directed to the County Attorney for those counties.
Second, County Attorneys are not employees nor officials of the Kansas
Judicial Branch. They are elected officials of the county. You should
address your Kansas Open Records Act request to the proper party.
