In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Good afternoon Beryl.

The City has received the records request you emailed today and will produce any responsive, non-privileged records to your request to the extent that they exist. Due to the nature of the request and the time needed to research and compile same, we will contact you when it is determined that there are responsive, non-privileged records and when they will be available for your viewing and/or copying. Please note that the City will charge $0.25 per page for copies of the records you requested, as there is no policy in place for the waiver of such fees. Staff will produce all responsive electronic documents for free and I will attempt to email these to you, as you requested. However, should this method not work, you will need to provide the appropriate digital media (such as a blank cd) so that the documents can be stored onto it. You will also need to pay all associated shipping costs for the mailing of the cd.

In the meantime, should you have any questions or require anything further, please feel free to call me at 626-430-2201.

To Whom It May Concern:

I wanted to follow up on the following Freedom of Information request, copied below, and originally submitted on Aug. 4, 2014. Please let me know when I can expect to receive a response, or if further clarification is needed.

Thank you for your help.

Good morning Beryl. There do not appear to be any new documents that are responsive to your request. Should you have any questions or require anything further, please feel free to contact me. Thank you.

Hello Mr. Hegdahl,

I'm hoping you can help me understand the lack of responsive documents for this request. It appears that David Tran was meeting with City Officials in May, and, presumably, communicating with them regarding Huy Fong Foods, his factory, and the addition of rooftop ventilation (http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2014/05/29/the-great-sriracha-panic-is-finally-over-as-irwindale-dismisses-its-lawsuit/). Please let me know if there is a way to restructure my request that may be more productive.

Thank you so much for your help,
Beryl C.D. Lipton

Good morning Beryl. You are correct in that City officials met with Mr. David Tran, owner of Huy Fong Foods, Inc. These meetings were arranged verbally. The City does not possess any notes and/or transcripts of said meetings. As such, there are no documents that are responsive to your request. I hope this answers your question, but if not, please feel free to reply. Thanks.
