Pursuant to the Iowa Open Records Law (Code Chapter 22), I hereby request the following records:
A log of public records requests submitted to the Department of Commerce that lists the date of request, the requester's name, the requester's organizational affiliation, a description of the request and the date the request was filled. Ideally I would like this information for the period from 2004 to the present.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is made in the process of academic research and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

The Iowa Department of Commerce is an "umbrella," or shell, department that receives no state funding and transacts no state business. The Commerce Department therefore has no records subject to your request.
Per Iowa Code Chapter 546, the Department is composed of five bureaucratic divisions which operate separately from each other in separate locations and maintain their own records. If you are interested in the records of the Alcoholic Beverages Division, the Banking Division, the Credit Union Division, the Insurance Division, or the Utilities Board, you may contact each Division individually and request the records you are seeking. Each Division's contact information is located here: http://commerce.iowa.gov/
If however you are seeking records of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, you will want to look here: http://www.iowaeconomicdevelopment.com/
