To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Indiana Access to Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
1) The total number of firearms reported stolen to your department in 2015.
2) The total number of firearms reported stolen from motor vehicles to your department in 2015.
I submitted on July 21 and 22 requests for police reports related to the theft of firearms from motor vehicles and asking for the total number of automobile burglaries in 2015. If you have not already completed that request, please complete this one first if possible.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 7 business days, as the statute requires.
To Whom It May Concern:
I wanted to follow up on the following Freedom of Information request, copied below, and originally submitted on Aug. 2, 2016. Please let me know when I can expect to receive a response, or if further clarification is needed.
Thanks for your help, and let me know if further clarification is needed.
Hello, Mr. Hallman, we are working on this, and the other request you have sent, not sure on a time table for completion.
Was just writing to follow up on this request and see what the estimate time of completion will be.
In response to your APAR request, please see documents responsive to your request. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department does not have a database that can extricate firearms that were stolen from vehicles alone without a review of every case report from that year.
