Pursuant to the Indiana Access to Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

A log of public records requests submitted to the Department of Environmental Management that lists the date of request, the requester's name, the requester's organizational affiliation, a description of the request and the date the request was filled. Ideally I would like this information for the period from 2004 to the present.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is made in the process of academic research and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Dear Requestor:

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) Public Records Office (PRO) received your records request on October 15, 2015.

IDEM will contact you regarding location of information. IDEM now has the means for the public to search agency files electronically via the internet with the Virtual File Cabinet (VFC) at http://www.in.gov/idem/6551.htm.

The fee schedule for records printed from the VFC or copied is that there is no charge assessed for the first 100 pages and thereafter it is $.10 per page. Documents scanned to disc are assessed at $5.00 per disc. Notice for Users of VFC: while VFC provides enhanced access to Agency records, it is recommended that a public records request be filed with the PRO.

If you should have any questions or concerns regarding your request, need to make any additional public records requests, view, have records copied, or VFC assistance in locating a document, please contact the IDEM Public Records Office at:

Notice for Users of VFC: When difficulties locating a document submitted to a specific Program Office arise, it is recommended that a public records request be filed with the PRO.

Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding state holidays. Records obtained through the Public Records Office may be subject to copying fees.

Mr. Peterson,

As an office of public records we do not create reports, lists, etc. We simply provide the public with records/documents that are already in existence within IDEM.
However, we have been maintaining a log of public records requests since late August 2014. I have attached this log in response to your request. This completes your public records request.
