From: Diane Goldstein

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Access to Public Records Act (Ind. Code 5-14-3), I hereby request the following responsive records including paper records, and electronic records. My request includes without limitation all correspondence, letters and emails. My request also includes any attachments to emails and other records:

The National Police Association was incorporated in February 2017. Please search for all responsive records and email communication from the dates of January 1, 2016 to the present.

All responsive records or communications between former Indiana State Deputy Attorney General Derek R. Peterson and current Indiana Attorney General Investigator Edward (Ed) Hutchinson that includes information on the incorporation of the National Police Association in Indiana, mentions the National Police Association, any mentions of or includes any Amicus Briefs filed on behalf or in conjunction with the NPA, any press releases, or any communications regarding a bar complaint against District Attorney Rachel Rollins in Suffolk County Massachusetts.

If my request is denied in whole or part, please justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act. I will also expect you to release all segregable portions of otherwise exempt material. I, of course, reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to deny a waiver of fees. I am making this request as a journalist and this information is of timely value, I would appreciate your communicating with me via email rather than by mail, if you have questions regarding this request.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. As a representative of the news media through this request, I am gathering information on the National Police Association, a non-profit registered in the State of Indiana as a foreign corporation. This information is being sought on behalf of Filter Magazine, a non-profit organization that disseminates information to the general public. Please waive any applicable fees. Release of the information is in the public interest because it will contribute significantly to public understanding of government and non-profit operations and activities in the State of Indiana and the United States.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not. Could you please inform me off that cost prior to making the copy? I can be reached via email dianegoldstein1109@gmail.com.

According to the statute, you have 7 days to respond to this request. If you choose to deny the request, you are required to respond in writing and state the statutory exception authorizing the withholding of all or part of the public record and the name and title or position of the person responsible for the denial. Please send the requested records to me electronically at dianegoldstein1109@gmail.com or at Diane Goldstein, Filter Magazine 447 Broadway, 2nd Floor New York, New York 10013. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

Diane Goldstein
