To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/1 to 11), I hereby request the following records:

A log of public records requests submitted to the Department of Natural Resources that lists the date of request, the requester's name, the requester's organizational affiliation, a description of the request and the date the request was filled. Ideally I would like this information for the period from 2004 to the present.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is made in the process of academic research and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

Erik Peterson

Mr. Peterson,

I am a FOIA officer at the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and am working on your FOIA request for our FOIA logs. We get thousands of FOIA request each year. It has taken our office a week just to compile the logs and I believe it will take another few weeks to review these documents. We'll also need to review all of these documents for personal information and other information otherwise exempt from disclosure.

Your request is currently due today and would normally be extended another 5 business days until 10/29/2015. Are you willing to extend the deadline of this request for another two weeks, until 11/5/2015? If we can extend the deadline it would be very helpful to our office. If we are not able to extend, we may have to deny your request as unduly burdensome or ask you to narrow your request.

Feel free to email or call if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Anne L. Mergen
