Dear Mr. Ader:

The Illinois State Police has received your request for all Situational
Awareness Bulletins posted from January 1st 2018 to the date of this
request. A response to your request is due 10/30/2018. However,
additional time is needed to respond to your request. In accordance with
Section 3 (e) of the Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/3 (e)), the
response due date is being extended to 11/07/2018. The basis for this
extension is as follows:

_____ The request requires the collection of a substantial number of
records.

_____ The request is stated in categorical terms which requires an
extensive search for the records requested.

Dear Mr. Ader:

Thank you for writing the Illinois State Police with your request for
information pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS
140/1 et seq.

On October 23, 2018, we received your request for the following: All
Situational Awareness Bulletins posted from January 1st 2018 to the date
of this request. On October 30, 2018, we sent an extension letter
advising that additional time was needed to respond to your request.

The Illinois State Police Freedom of Information Officer, Erin Davis, is
denying your request for the reasons outlined below:

5ILCS 140/7(1)(f) - Preliminary drafts, notes, recommendations, memoranda
and other records in which opinions are expressed, or policie or actions
are formulated.

The Situational Awareness Bulletins are preliminary information used to
alert law enforcement to preliminary information that has not yet been
investigated.

You have the right to have the denial of your request reviewed by the
Public Access Counselor (PAC) at the Office of the Attorney General (5
ILCS 140/9.5(a)). You can file your Request for Review with the PAC by
writing to:
