From: Department of Correction

Good afternoon Kathryn.
IDOC doesn't maintain a records containing the information you are requesting, but we were able to obtain this following data for you:

Currently, IDOC has 91 inmates in custody identified as transgender.
This includes:
4 transgender men housed in women's prisons
87 transgender females housed in men's prisons
**Please note that a "complete and accurate count of all transgender inmates" is dependent on inmate self-disclosure of their gender identity and their identification as transgender (as opposed to gender queer, non-binary, pangender, etc).

IDOC reports show 28 offenders receiving HRT for GD.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Ammie Mabe
